Sand, sand, and more sand

On Saturday, Ethan hung out with the ladies while dad and the guys went for a long bike ride. We went down to the beach and Ethan got to experience sand for the first time.

Mainly, Ethan just spun around and around and splashed. Eventually he just had to taste the sand, and he really liked it! He kept going back for more. But eventually we were able to distract him.

Here we are on the beach. It wasn't all that crowded and the water was perfect.

Is it appropriate to post this on the web? Well, it might be hard to tell what this is, but it's Ethan's bum after he spent an hour or so spinning around in the sand. His diaper was full of it! Thankfully, there wasn't much of anything else in it. Note to diaper-changing friends: NEVER pull a messy swim diaper off the child's legs. ALWAYS search for a pair of scissors or even a knife to cut the diaper off. I did not know this and learned the hard way, 18 wipes, a dirty blanket, and a few spots on the car upholstery later.

Good thing Ethan likes his sunscreen!
