Swimming. . .

The water was supposed to be VERY cold--under 50 degrees. Thankfully, it was up to 60 degrees by this weekend. Tim had only practiced swimming in open water once--the Monday before the triathlon, so he was pretty nervous about the swimming part of the race. He had bought this wet suit on ebay a month or two ago.

Darin was Tim's partner in crime in this experience. Darin has been training for months--and very intensely. He is a marine with the motto, "We can sleep when we're dead." He always goes all-out.

Here's everyone waiting. I was impressed with the number of women who participated in the triathlon. My friend Tera (Darin's wife) and I both commented on how inadequate and weak we felt for not participating in the triathlon. We had to comfort ourselves that we have a good reason--pregnancy makes triathlon training tough.

Can you see how far they had to swim out and back? Six-tenths of a mile!
